Greetings. I’m a writer – by habit and by profession. I engage in some aspect of the writing process on a daily basis. Most of the writing I engage in requires some level of research; fortunately I’m an avid researcher. Because I love to write, I spend an appreciable amount of time on the reading, researching, writing, editing, and proofreading round-a-bout.
My undergraduate degree is in Professional and Technical Writing (PTW) from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UALR). There were two specific areas I focused on while on the undergraduate program: developing sound research skills and improving my nonfiction writing. Because I’m passionate about both writing and research, I’m eager to be involved in projects that I can contribute to in important ways that also allow me to continue to develop in these areas.
While my formal education is in professional and technical writing, my work and education history is somewhat diverse: I’ve been fortunate to work and attend college in two countries. I’ve worked alongside a mix of amazing people: politicians, teachers, students, law enforcement and military personnel, health practitioners, and individuals trying to beat drug and alcohol addiction.
But writing isn’t all I do: I love to be outdoors with nature – wildlife gardening, walking, just being. I’m a songwriter and musician – I joke that my instrument is the pen, and to some extent (depending on the day), my voice.
